About section

The Prolonged Casualty Care (PCC) collection provides the latest recommendations based on evidence-based research and proven practices to optimize prolonged patient care in austere locations, improve outcomes and save lives. The recommendations include clinical practice guidelines published by the Joint Trauma System (JTS), the Department of Defense Center of Excellence for Trauma. The JTS Defense Committee on Trauma (DCoT) charters a Prolonged Casualty Care Working Group (PCC-WG) in coordination with the Committees on Tactical, En Route, and Surgical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC, CoERCCC, and CoSCCC).

Prolonged Casualty Care is focused on the patient regardless of the environment, location or setting. PCC conceptually replaces the lexicon prolonged field care (PFC) only in that the PCC Guidelines are meant for any austere and remote environment such as field, maritime, or delayed evacuation.
