I have a question regarding the guidance on what actions to take if initial wound packing methods have failed:
The action card suggests that if you used a haemostatic agent, you should remove it and apply a new one, starting the process again.
Whilst if you used plane gauze, it suggests that you leave it in place and add more gauze on top.
Can you please explain the rationale behind this?
Furth more, is the above guidance evidence based (such as from research on swine models) or is it based on expert consensus?
